The Perfect Apple Pie
When I think about Thanksgiving, yes, I think of the turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes... But the one thing I can't stop thinking about while I'm eating those is the pie. I love apple pie and will eat it year round. I guess it is safe to say I am a pie fiend.
This is one of my fail proof apple pie recipes I turn to every time.
Enjoy!
Yep, those are airplanes on my pie!!
The Perfect Apple Pie
1 package of (14.1 oz) Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust, softened as directed
6 or 7 thinly sliced, peeled apples ( I will usually mix it up and do some granny smith, crisp pink and pink lady.
2 tablespoon all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Heat oven to 425°F. Place 1 pie crust in an ungreased glass pie plate. Press it firmly against the sides.
In a large mixing bowl, gently place all the filling ingredients then spoon into the crusted pie plate. Top with second crust. ( I usually like to use cookie cutters to make the top fun!)
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown. After the first 20 minutes, cover the edge of crust with 2 to 3 inch wide strips of aluminum foil to prevent the crust from getting burnt. Cool on a cooling rack for 2 hours then serve!

Away from home happiness....
Let me start this by saying that I love my job. Don't think I could ever go back to having a normal 9-5 job or going to the same office everyday. I love the opportunities it gives me like:
- Traveling to places I would never normally go or ever get to the chance to go
- Meeting new people from every aspect of life
- The CRAZY and UNIQUE experiences I have everyday one the job
But, being gone as much as I am, sometimes 6 nights a week, it makes you realize how much you do miss home or the familiar when you are gone. One of my all time favorite movies is Juno. I love her witt and the way she words things sooo much. She says the perfect line that I think of every time I am away too long....
"I never realize how much I like being home unless I've been somewhere really different for awhile."
My job gets me out of the normal bubble I feel like people get "stuck" in and makes me appreciate everything about home. For the last 3 weeks, I have been on a long needed vacation, which means minimal technology, sleeping in past 4 am, and close to no flying. ( Come on, I can't not go somewhere fun!) It's been that breath of fresh air I needed to recenter myself and just be lazy and relax.Turn my mind off and not think of all the things I have to get done or where I need to be. Even if you don't have a lot of time, just getting that Mani/Pedi or catching that yoga class can make the world of a difference. Getting that ME time.....
When I work, I tend to forget about me and those close to me. Yes, I know it's horrible but it's just how I deal with the general public and my job.The important things like eating healthy, getting enough sleep or even just texting or calling that person back gets pushed to the back of my mind. I forget about my life at home and tend to only focus on my flights, my crew and my passengers happiness. What about my happiness and well being...?
It took me sometime to realize (2 years of flying) that the way I was handling things was not working. I was more tired, not as focused and not myself. So, I made a huge effort to take that time for my self each day, even if it was just a few minutes. I try and do those little things everyday. I will find a little corner in the airport where I can be by myself and read a book or do bedtime yoga every night in my hotel room.

I didn't realize how much I had really needed this vacation until I was a few days into my time off. I went into it without having any plans. I know myself well enough that if that "plan" didn't happen, it would have stressed me out. But, I was able to reconnect with some of my bestest friends, do a quick adventure to Zion's National Park and a weekend in Phoenix.
I guess my point of this is never forget about those things that are important to you. The things that make you a better, happier, healthier person. Don't forget about your family, friends, pets, hell, I will even say my bed!
Only I can feel it's true warmth!

Pin Curls and Bows
I've been trying to master the art of pin up curls and have been watching youtube videos like crazy. This video by jennylopez522 is probably one of my favs and I love the song that she has going.
A morning before I had to fly, I set my hair and let it sit for about an hour while I did my make up and finished packing. Did a little teasing and this is what I came out with! I was dying to put a big fabulous flower in my hair but sadly am not allowed to wear them to work, so a simple black bow had to do.

Face lifts and Snow
Yea to a new looking blog!! I felt like the old look was depressing, dark and confusing. Spring is hopefully coming soon, so I figured I might as well do spring cleaning on here too. I like the bright look of the new one for the most part, but don't be surprised if you see some small little tweeks here and there later on.
Last time I was here in Salt Lake City, my little sister and I went to the Sephora store and wandered up and down just about every aisle. I've been seeing alot of foundation contouring and was wanting to try it. The consultant guided me toward Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid foundation and 25/7 concealer pencils. I am completely and 100% converted for life. I feel like I get such a good outcome from the products that I don't really mind spending close to $100 on 3 products.
This is fabulous me first thing in the morning. I will be the first to admit that I don't have the most perfect skin. I am prone to problem areas and I do have splotchy skin color all over. (PS these were done in my hotel room and took a totally of 4 mins)
I first put on Keihl's face moisturizor then did my conturing lines. I looked on Pinterest and youtube and got some ideas of the best way to do them for my face shape.
The final shot. I then got a foundation brush and put just alittle bit of the liquid foundation on and blended it all in together. It does take some time to make sure you get it all blended in but the outcome is awesome!
I feel like my skin looks so much better and I don't feel like half way through my day I have to reapply.
Now for some random pics of my last week.
First signs of spring....sigh

PUG DAY!
I am back and fully functioning! Well, computer wise that is. J took some time and did a overhaul on my laptop. SOO grateful! Busy last couple weeks flying an obscene amount and throwing in alittle time to make it home to see family and my baby girl Harley.
If any of you know me, I am obsessed with my pug and pugs in general. I don't know what it is about those cute faces, piggy tails and snorty noses that does it for me. So, today's post is on pugs! And I'm doing it because it makes me happy!
My love Harley girl
This made me smile today!
This is Harley getting a good scratch from me last time I was home! Just to give you an idea of how loud she is .... all the time!
If you have some time, (so sad and slight embarrassing how happy this YouTube video makes me) but go to YouTube and watch Loca, the pug that can't run. http://youtu.be/C9IeFRlZQDk

Sponge curler failure
I've been doing quite a bit of Pinteresting lately and have been seeing so many cute ideas, mainly with sponge curlers. I figured it couldn't be too hard, and put them in last night after I showered then went to bed. Let's just say when I took them out this morning it was a nightmare. Half of my head was full of Shirley Temple curls while the rest was wet and frizzy.
So, in a crunch to get to work, I wet curled the failure curls and came up with this updo.
By the way if anyone has ANY tips for using sponge curlers, send them my way. I love love to achieve a sexy Marilyn Monroe look.
